Support for new PIN pads

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

STS is pleased to announce support for three new PIN pads, the NEC PW-PE33, VeriFone's Vx810 and ITWell's XPDA-V. Using STS' flexible smart card framework, SmartNS, STS partners are able to gain access to these with no further device integration requirements.

Supported specifically for the Japanese market, the NEC PW-PE33 is STS' first EMVCo approval for an NEC PIN pad. Designed to accept IC cards only, the support of this device will provide Japanese retailers with access to EMV functionality as well as the benefits of using STS' SmartNS smart card framework.

The project of implementing and approving the NEC PIN pad highlights the global growth of EMV technology and demonstrates STS' commitment to extending its support into new markets.

Supporting both USB and Ethernet, the VeriFone Vx810 provides STS merchants and partners with an innovative design supplemented by outstanding usability with its large keypad, programmable function keys and on-screen prompts.

The Vx810 has built-in modularity for a future-proof investment. It has extensive memory for multiple applications and a wide range of connectivity options all from a single port. One major advantage of the Vx810 is it's SDIO expansion slot that allows for contactless payments without sending it back to the factory. It even has an option to add a base unit with printer and modem to create a complete countertop payment solution.

VeriFone's upcoming plans to add support for a contactless module makes the Vx810 a very attractive device for our partners' customers. The Vx810 provides them with an opportunity of rolling out a PIN pad today and adding contactless, using STS' Touchlink, as required.
