Welcome

STS was pleased to have held its first STS Technical User Group Seminar for existing partners and new customers. We saw this as an ideal opportunity to share key product and market knowledge and we were honoured to include talks from key retailers such as Boots and The Co-Operative Group. Innovative technology leaders such as Glue4 and Votiva also provided us an insight into the future. We take the opportunity to review the views of the industry presented at the seminar. STS is delighted to announce the formal release of its latest payments product, T3link. Standing for Thin, Transaction, Terminal, T3link is the latest evolution in STS' push towards thin-client payments processing, acting as a complete terminal replacement solution for EFT providers and acquirers. T3link has been used successfully by a major UK high street merchant for the past 9 months.

T3link is designed as a low cost route of rolling out EMV enabled systems to stand-alone and web-based merchants. The solution is a software based application using IP based PIN pads. T3link controls a thin-client printing PIN pad with all software applications running in a centrally hosted environment, using Emvelink, the leading EMV level 2 kernel from STS, and is a plug-in for STS' SmartNS framework.

T3link has been architected to allow thin-client PIN pads to act as stand-alone terminal replacements, or to be easily upgraded to integrated system should the EPOS support it.

T3link provides a number of key features to the market which include:

  • Ability to run multiple devices over IP based networks
  • Hosting of all applications, databases and EMV components in a central server environment
  • Allows PIN pad independent applications to be built and rolled out in a central environment
  • No requirement to download applications to PIN pads
  • Other plug-ins can be added to suit specific environments, ie Hostlink from STS adds specific hospitality functionality
  • Supports fixed and wireless IP enabled devices
  • Low cost roll-out for new EMV markets
  • Reduces on-going support costs

Using the SmartNS platform, different kernels and drivers can be easily added around T3link allowing flexibility with readers, applications and payment methods. Future in-store requirements for smart cards can therefore be delivered without further large scale investment to handle new applications.
