Welcome

STS was pleased to have held its first STS Technical User Group Seminar for existing partners and new customers in the last week of February. We saw this as an ideal opportunity to share key product and market knowledge and we were honoured to include talks from key retailers such as Boots and The Co-Operative Group. Innovative technology leaders such as Glue4 and Votiva also provided us an insight into the future. We take the opportunity to review the views of the industry presented at the seminar.

At the STS Technical User Group Seminar STS launched its latest product, T3link. Standing for Thin, Transaction, Terminal, T3link is designed as an IP-based, bank owned terminal replacement solution. Utilised already by a large UK-based high street retailer, T3link is a revolution in payments using the latest IP based standards.

The presence of local providers in individual markets is essential due to the complexities and business critical nature of EMV as it rolls out in the various regions. Ollie takes a look at what is driving this EMV adoption in new countries.

To allow STS to work in local markets, STS is proud to announce its first two official distributorships, Australian-based Smarta Technology and Spanish-based ITOS.

Smarta Technology has a large amount of experience with both STS and general market technology and should see a large amount of success in this field.

Kind Regards

STS was pleased to have held its first Technical User Group Seminar in the last week of February. With guests from Japan, USA, Germany, Spain, France as well as UK visitors, it was an opportunity to bring together partners of STS to discuss the future of smart card technology.

STS is delighted to announce the formal release of its latest payments product, T3link. Standing for Thin, Transaction, Terminal, T3link is the latest evolution in STS' push towards thin-client payments processing, acting as a complete terminal replacement solution for EFT providers and acquirers. T3link has been used successfully by a major UK high street merchant for the past 9 months.

STS has always been at the forefront of the EMV wave in the UK and is now embracing some of the 'younger technologies' such as contactless that are emerging. But, if you cast your eye beyond the British shores at the moment you can see the same wave of EMV activity that the UK saw in 2005 / 2006 happening elsewhere. Over the last six months we have been really spreading our wings and getting involved in projects in Japan, Finland, Estonia, Spain and Australia / New Zealand in addition to the work in the UK.

STS have appointed new distributor ITOS Outsourcing Services to manage a network of resellers and provide local support and sales functions in Spain. ITOS have been involved in the payments arena in Spain for many years and have a range of their own PIN pads and mobile payment devices as well as their own POS applications. ITOS have an incredible understanding of the STS solutions from a technical perspective and this was just one of the reasons that led to their selection.

The move to EMV in the APAC region is really starting to gather momentum with countries like New Zealand in the process of migration and Australia set to switch over in the next 1-2 years. With this in mind STS have partnered with Australian-based consulting and solutions company, Smarta Technology.
