Steve Turner - founder and CEO
Steve Turner is widely known in the payments industry as "Mr Chip and PIN". Having worked in the payments industry for over 18 years he decided to start his own software house (STS) in 1997 from his garden shed. The urge to do this came from Steve's recognition of the enormous impact that smart card technology would have on the world and how the use of software to control it would prove more flexible in the long run.
Responsible for developing the original Emvelink (STS' flagship product), Steve has also worked closely with standards bodies such as EMVCo, pioneering the process for approval of software based components.
After starting to study medicine Steve decided that it wasn't for him and instead completed an MA in Electrical Sciences at Cambridge University and is both a Chartered Engineer (C Eng) and a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (MIEE).
He then went on to work for various card payment software companies and MEL (Military Division of Philips Electronics) before establishing STS.
James Amphlett - Vice President of Development
James Amphlett is not only the VP of Development at STS but is also the company's Principal Consultant. With over 10 years experience in the payments industry James has extensive knowledge of EMV and other payments standards across the globe.
Responsible for STS' development and support functions James ensures that STS' products remain cutting edge and address the business needs of STS customers and partners wherever they may be in the world.
James achieved a Master of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (1st class hons) from the University of Bristol, England.
